The Royal Melbourne Sail Training Academy and its qualified Instructors adhere to the policy and procedures set by our governing body; Sailing Australia.
Prerequisite qualifications for sailing instructors include First Aid, a Marine Radio Operators Certificate, a Powerboat Handling Certificate and a Working with Children Check. Our team of instructors and assistants are all qualified with a minimum Level 1 Yachting Australia Instructor Certificate and are trained specifically for Royal Melbourne Sail Training Academy courses. All RMSTA Instructors are qualified and love sailing & boating – no matter what time of year it is!

How can I become an Instructor?

If you are interested in teaching new skills and knowledge to those who are interested in learning how to sail, then sailing instructing is for you!

The Yachting Australia Instructor training provides accreditation from the Australian Sports Commission through the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS). The course focuses on the skills that a qualified Instructor/Assistant Instructor will need in delivering a training course.
