History of the Jennifer Goldsmith Perpetual Trophy Race

RMYS has a long history of women skippering boats to victory, and in 1948 the first Lady Skipper’s race was organised, with boats to be drawn from a hat and trophies awarded to the winning women.

In 2005, the Goldsmith Family donated a perpetual trophy, and the race was renamed the Jennifer Goldsmith Trophy in memory of Jennifer Goldsmith, a keen sailor and the first female recipient of the Club Member of the Year at RMYS.
