Dinghies in the Tackers Kids Sailing Programme on St Kilda Beach

Tackers is a national junior sailing program to promote participation in sailing, endorsed by Australian Sailing.

Tackers is a fun, games-based, introductory sailing program designed for kids aged 7-12 yrs. Kids don’t need to have any sailing experience or club membership to participate. All the equipment, including the boats, is provided.

Why RMSTA?

Get the best of both worlds.

Experience both lake sailing on Albert Park Lake and open bay sailing at wonderful St. Kilda, next to the historic St. Kilda Pier. At Albert park lake, you will experience flat water and easy conditions, whilst at St Kilda you will experience traditional “off the beach” sailing.

You launch your dinghies from the sandy beach opposite Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron and sail in the waters of St. Kilda harbour, experiencing more challenging conditions. When conditions are right, we venture further on Port Phillip in bay winds and waves. You may even see dolphins, a Rakali (a native water rat similar to an otter) or a Little Penguin (a local resident in St. Kilda).
