The inaugural South Australian Women’s Keelboat Regatta (SAWKR) was held over three days this past weekend in the Gulf St Vincent, hosted by the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia (CYCSA). We are proud that our members attended this regatta on various boats.

Nadine Tabak was aboard Elliot 7 State Swim. It was her first go at coaching a new helm. Monica Jones was invited to join Black Butterfly, and the RMYS team was skippered by Sarah Clough aboard Team Georgia (formerly: Cookie Monster, more on that below!).

Team Georgia placed 2nd overall in Division 2 PHS. We congratulate them and all our RMYS members and those that went out there to volunteer.

Team Georgia, skipped by Sarah Clough

Sarah’s team arrived in South Australia to sail a borrowed J24 called Team Georgia. Though, when they arrived on the first day, they discovered that the J24 is Sarah Clough’s late mother, Gai Cough, first boat, Cookie Monster. Gai Clough, a past commodore at RMYS, founded AWKR. We remember Gai’s incredible contribution to the foundation of AWKR and her service as Commodore at RMYS. What a beautifully small sailing world.

Congratulations to all those involved in South Australia! You were missed on Opening Day but we were proud you were out there!
