On Saturday, a sunny and beautiful day over Port Phillip with winds NNW and 10-15 knots. Race Officials Amanda Wakeham, Andrew Fambiatos, Terry Park and Peter Haug decided that course numbers 50 & 50S were best suited to the conditions. The course was 7.9 nm, including marks B and G.

The best start was awarded to Kalinda.

Division 1 results placed Salamander III first. However, Jim Hutchinson from Salamander III told our boating department that Salamander III boat didn’t make it around the mark. Results were then recalculated, placing Sunshine third, Buck second, and Archimedes won first place. These adjusted results will be presented during the presentation after the next race on 9 July 2022. Congratulations to Archimedes, and thank the Salamander III crew for their honesty and sportsmanship!

In an interview with Archimedes, skipper Tom Ely left quickly; however, his crew Phil Brierley, Sabina Rosser and Paul Dunsteam were happy with their results and favourable weather with a flat sea state and the sun shining.

Division 2 results were reliable and placed Vella Star third, Dalliance in second and first place going to Cloud 10!

After the race, the Olympic Bar was lively, with celebrations and out-of-town visitors from Perth. Dennis Horne told us an interesting fact! Did you know that the sunset in the winter solstice sets directly in line with the bar if you extend the line to out to sea? We recommend you all stick around to see if it’s a fantastic view.

We would love some photos and stories from Saturday racing. If you have reports from the race, find Ann Rogers in the bar and send any additional content to comms@rmys.com.au to be featured in next week’s news story!
