Poitrel II was most recently actively sailed by author Jack Finlay from Geelong who bought her in Kettering in 2007 and had many trips in her around Bass Strait and locally. I understand his accounts of these trips were published in sailing mags like cruising helmsman.

I brought her back from Queenscliff mid November, and she is now on a mooring.

Poitrel II is a Peter Joubert design, a product of his collaboration with boat builder Geoff Baker. She was built in 1973 for Jim Robson-Scott of RPAYC who had some success in her in offshore raced. Digging through old Sydney Hobart programs I see he also campaigned the earlier Poitrel in the ’60s. The name Poitrel is from the horse Poitrel,  winner of the 1920 Melbourne Cup which Jim’s family was associated, Jack tells me they were part owners. There’s a wiki page on the horse.
