Amity is a 26 foot Cavalier and has recently come into the marina after a 14 hour journey from Hastings. We waited for quite a few months for delivery, as we needed the right weather window. In the end, it was decided to ‘just go’ when a big high settled over the country. Amity left under sail from Hastings at 11 pm, sailed by moonlight and accompanied by dolphins in the early hours of the morning, and was then becalmed off Cape Schanck but contending three metre swells leftover from stormy weather earlier in the week.

Finally arriving at Port Phillip Bay heads, the forecast southerly had not turned up, and instead, there was a brisk northerly to contend with. After a lot of motoring with its one-cylinder diesel and Amity finally arrived into St Kilda at 3 pm after its 14 hour non-stop delivery.

Amity will be used as a cruiser, perhaps for the odd race, and will join Aunty Jack in the ‘fleet’. Aunty Jack is on the swing mooring (pictured right), while Amity will be in the Marina.
