3rd Revenge

Last week’s Wednesday race featured fresh breezes, a choppy sea state, and showers in the bay.

Our member, Pat Milwright, has returned from his travels after three months and joined Mrs. Overnewton’s crew for last Wednesday’s Midweek Mariners race. We had the pleasure of finding out how it went out on the water.

Left to right: Peter Carr, Ann Elmslie, Pat Milwright, Miro Gjergja

“It was my first day back after three months. I found I was bouncing around the boat a lot. You’ve got to hang on! It was a lot of fun, we got wet with a few waves over the deck and the foredeck were cold and wet on the top, this is what foredeckers are for!”

Mrs. O on the water on Opening Day Oct 1

Mrs. O reported a great race, “with no mishaps or miscalculations, that’s what happens when you win!” says Pat. “We chose number 3 and a reef main and no spinnaker – that was the fastest combination and we were passing everybody upwind. There was a close one going around the C mark when 3 boats were attacking the mark. We were going to be in the least favourable position, so I said to Miro on the wheel go past, take a gybe and come in hard and attack the mark when coming round so the other boats would have gone, and we did that, and we passed both of them on that exercise which was nice, it was good fun!”

Congratulations on your win Mrs O!
