The 100^th anniversary of the Bert Ferris Cactus Cup was celebrated on Saturday, with over 160 people and 22 boats entering the competition. The weather hit a balmy 26 degrees and up to 10 knots registered on the wind scale.

Our Race officer Amanda Wakeman made the decision to delay the race and wait for the wind to increase. And that it did, just enough for our boats to have a very pleasant sail and then get back to the club house for the traditional mussels and frankfurts. Thank you to the kitchen staff led by Brad and front of house staff Camilla for a smooth operation.

Fittingly, two Tumlaren Avian and Yvonne came in first and second, respectively. Many years ago, both Avian and Yvonne were crewed by Bert Ferris, after whom the Cactus Cup is now named. The recent restoration of Yvonne was a labour of love, and our member Roger Dundas spoke to the members about this great project that has been completed over the last six years.
