New royal cypher revealed from King Charles III

King Charles new crown
King Charles III's new royal cypher
King Charles III has unveiled his royal cypher. This means that the crown above our logo has to change.

In November 1957, the Royal Yachting Association advised all Royal yacht clubs throughout the Commonwealth to change the crowns they displayed from Imperial State to St Edward’s when Queen Elizabeth II became queen. Our crown is about to change from St Edward's crown to the Tudor crown, chosen by King Charles III.

This is a great time to purchase some of our remaining merchandise to celebrate the great reign of the late Queen Elizabeth II ahead of new merchandise being rolled out.

History and Protocol

R.Hill-045Q6545
Commodore or commodore – where possible the reference should be to the person eg “Commodore will propose the toast”, or “Commodore will chair the meeting” in that situation an uppercase “C” is appropriate. When the reference is to the position it should be “the commodore will propose the toast”, the “c” is then lower case. The same principle applies to all flag officer positions.

“The” – Occasionally “the” is seen in front of “Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron” however this is incorrect. Rarely is “the” seen before “RMYS” and the same applies to the full description.
