93rd Stonehaven Cup Report

93rd Stonehaven Cup
The historic Stonehaven Cup is now sailed in RS Quests with a crew of three between the ages of 11 – 17. The 93ʳᵈ Stonehaven Cup ran from 3 to 8 January 2023. We congratulate all participants and thank volunteers for their involvement in this year's successful regatta.


Paul Woodman, Chair of the Quest Association Australia and Stonehaven Cup National Council, wrote a report on how it all went. Read it below.

Twilight Race - Wednesday, 11 January 2023 1800 hrs start

Twilight
Race 1 of our Twilight Series II is scheduled for tomorrow evening with a start time of 1800 hrs. Pursuit start, Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker Cat 6. Winds are predicted to be southerly, around 10 knots.

Dinner served from 1830 hrs:
• Southern fried crispy chicken burger, slaw on a brioche bun $24

• Linguini with mushrooms, rocket, shaved parmesan, and pinenuts $24

• Shepard pie and peas $26

• Prawn and fish red curry with coconut rice and Asian herbs $28

Red Pants Funday - 12 February 2023 1000 hrs - 1700 hrs

Put on your red pants and join in this fun February sailing day. Yachts and crafts of all types are included. Visitors and non-sailors are welcome to join in the fun.

To be run in conjunction with the Wigs and Gowns Squadron fun sail, trophies will be awarded. Let us know if you need a spot on a yacht. Refreshments can be purchased from RMYS before sailing.

On water activities will be followed by lunch and drinks in the RMYS Harbour room. Come for a sail or just come for lunch.

This Friday, session 1 of 2 on asymmetrical spinnaker trim will be led by Philippe.

Happy hour: 1700 - 1900 hrs.
Dinner: 1800 hrs.
Members Draw $130 drawn at 1900 hrs.

The seminar will begin immediately after the draw,

Beach Road is CLOSED from Kerferd Road, Middle Park, to St Kilda St, Elwood, from 600 hrs to 1100 hrs due to the Triathlon Series Race 3.

Summer progressive dinner - Saturday, 14 January 2023

Progressive dinner
The Summer Progressive Dinner will see recreational boats cruising to Docklands and enjoying a potluck dinner.

Some berths have been reserved at Docklands, but individuals must book.

Pat Milwright is organising this event and will be allocating courses to different boats. If you don't have a boat but would like to come along, please contact Pat.
