Nurminen Girls Reminiscing on our days on Yvonne

Monica Nurminen received an email from Roger Dundas to say that Yvonne was in the yard and it might be an opportunity for her and her sisters to see the yacht. She is the Tumlaren class yacht that her father, Selim Nurminen, skippered in the 50s, 60s and 70s.
|
|
Monica contacted her four sisters and arranged to meet Roger and visit Yvonne on Friday, 18 November 2022. Monica’s sister Barbara has put together some thoughts reminiscing of our days as a family on the Tumlaren Yvonne.

Spinnaker competition - This Friday, 9 December 2022 1900 hrs

Do you have the best spinnaker packing crew?

Teams of two from each boat are invited to drop, pack and re hoist a spinnaker. Heats will run until a winning team is named the best spinnaker packing crew!

The event starts after the members draw.

Join us in wishing the RMYS teams competing in the 50th Melbourne to Hobart Westcoaster good luck!

We will host a send off on Friday, December 16, as we wish them well on their travels.
|

Why not come to the new members' night at 1845 hrs and meet some new members looking to crew!

We'll also be having a send off from 1800 hrs for those participating in the Melbourne to Hobart the following week.

The members' draw is $860 and will be drawn at 1900 hrs.

International Cup - Saturday, 10 December 2022
|
|
|
|
Saturday, 10 December, is the next race run by RMYS in the Summer Weekend season, the International Cup.
|
RYCV will join us on this laid course, and the race committee boat will be William Paterson (WP). WP will be located in the area marked as "Laid Course Area" as per Appendix 1 - The Course Area of the SI's
|
Race communications will be VHF 72.
|
|
With Christmas fast approaching, this will be the last Saturday race until 14th January.
|
|
|

It was great to have the newly fitted out and rigged J24 Double Exposure being used as a start boat for the racing, giving our squad an extra feel of our upcoming regattas.
|
Initially, our squad was met with a consistent 13 knot northerly, making for some exciting, close and extremely competitive racing.
|
|
Our first race was won by Jai / Zoe / Myra, followed by Ryan / Ari.
|
Our second race was won by Ryan / Ari, followed by Nick / Carli / Ava.
|
|

Run coincidingly with Wednesday Twilight Series, the GenOA League is designed to promote opportunities for younger members on boats. Any RMYS boat racing in the Wednesday Twilight Series may enter, providing they have one person under 35 onboard throughout the race.
|
|
We'll be updating the GenOA League results weekly. The results can be found amongst the rest of our results on the website.

OutThere teens sailing holiday program

Do you have a teen in your life you'd like to get into sailing? Our OutThere holiday program is designed just for them.
|

The program includes sailing dinghies, keelboats and powerboats. Participation in the program can count toward the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award!

Play like a girl PR campaign recap

Last Wednesday, Play like a Girl came to RMYs for a sailing experience.
|
The group included five powerhouse women from different sporting backgrounds jumping on the offer to experience sailing for the first time.
|
|
Our superstar instructor, Lily Nugent, led the group on our training boat, Georgia.
|
