25 Year Lunch

25-Year Lunch_johnson
Join in a celebration of the 21 foot restricted class yachts.
This event is called the 25 year lunch however it is really about giving people who have connected with RMYS an opportunity to reacquaint old friendships, form new ones or just enjoy lunch in a magnificent environment.
The 21s were a strong class at St Kilda from the early 1930's until 1955, they were revived in 1960 however faded as a class in the mid 1960's. Greg Muir will speak about the restoration of “Tassie Too” and her return to Tasmania.
People with 25+ years of membership or association with RMYS are invited to
Book Here.

Training Membership

A new membership that is a fantastic way to have unlimited access to Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron and its training Academy. The Training Membership is a onetime introductory offer option for those new to sailing, transitioning from the RMSTA or the Sail Pass scheme. There are also several places available for current members (less than 12 months) to take advantage of this scheme.

Annual General Meeting

The Red Book Calendar has the Annual General Meeting on 31 July which was the intention when that calendar was prepared, that date was also in the website calendar.

Had we stayed with that date, the AGM notices would have overlapped the Extraordinary General Meeting on 15 May which would not have been practical. Unfortunately COVID restrictions preventing visits to the office have also delayed the completion of the annual audit.

The AGM will therefore be held at 1000hrs Saturday 28 August.

RMYS Venue Manager

After three years as Venue Manager at RMYS, Lesleigh McDougall is leaving. Lesleigh is passionate about the Squadron, she has a great rapport with the membership and worked hard to provide the best possible service.

Lesleigh tells me she is going to spend a few months in New Zealand with her mother and then look for the next adventure. Lesleigh's last day at RMYS is this Sunday 27 June.

Thank you Lesleigh for your great work, we wish you well.

It's hard to describe the feeling of nostalgia, but you can't miss it when you have it. Suddenly you can feel the anxious butterflies you had getting ready for your first date, your first car, perhaps it’s a song and instantly you are transported to yesteryear. Picture the 1970’s when you were…catching a waft of Ralph Lauren POLO or ARAMIS and once again the night is oh so young . We’ve all been there, let’s visit times gone by and share the nostalgia the 70’s has to offer.

We are excited to annouce that booking will open on 13 July 2021!

Arrival of Stratagemm

Stratagemm2
RMYS welcomes new member and boat owner Eoin Macken. Thanks to Eoin for providing an introduction for his boat:

The boat is called Stratagemm, and after winning the Whitbreads in 1998, retired gracefully to being a gentle pleasure craft and fun racer. *the first part is not true unfortunately.

I bought the boat only last week from Douglas Scott at Royal Brighton YC, and live in St Kilda and love being able to walk down and sail.

I am from Dublin, Ireland. Been sailing all my life except for the last few years when I’ve been living inland in New Mexico and away from the ocean which was heartbreaking. I am in Melbourne working, and very much looking forward to exploring the Melbourne waters.

Acrospire III

Colin Anderson took Acrospire III sailing on Sunday which looked fantastic.
Thanks to Rob Lorenzon for sending in the pic!
