Members we appreciate your help and support.

Recent emails and commentary which state junior sailing at RMYS needs saving from the proposed changes to the operation of RMSTA, have brought about writing this note on behalf of the RMYS juniors.
RMYS juniors sail in RS Quests, purchased three years ago using funds generously donated by members to replace the 12 ft Cadet dinghies. This group practises and races every Sunday and competes in the Stonehaven Cup, all those involved are junior members of RMYS.

Unfortunately we continue to have Members putting rubbish in the Marina Bins that absolutely cannot go into general waste. Recently we have had fire extinguishers, small gas stove canisters, liquid hydrocarbons, and oily rags. In the most recent case the oily rags and liquids created a significant spill into the marina.
PLEASE be considerate to other Members and the environment.
The only rubbish that should go in the Marina bins is the packaging that whatever you ate or drank came in.
NO left over bits from a vessel remodelling – Please bring such material into the large skip bin in the yard.
NO large objects that take up an entire bin – Please bring such material into the large skip bin in the yard.
ABSOLUTERLY NOTHING associated with an engine service, including old filters, gaskets, rags, etc. – this must go to a dedicated waste receiving station. The nearest one is the Port Phillip Resource Recovery Centre on Boundary Road, South Melbourne.
If you notice any chemical smells from any Marina bins, please let Damien know asap.
Your assistance will greatly appreciated.

Historic group – New Wall Hangings
We all saw that General & Facilities Committee took the opportunity over the lock downs to undertake long needed capital works of painting the Olympic Lounge / Members area and opening up access to the Bert Ferris Library along with other parts of the building.
Commodore Greg then initiated the Historic Group – sub-committee of Members Services to commence the task of identifying, conserving and presenting the collection of images, documents and memorabilia.

Sponsorship – Can You Help?

Millennial Mixer 2021
A new initiative is coming to RMYS and we're throwing a party to celebrate.
The yet to be named committee targeted for members under 35 is due for launch on May 7th. To really get this thing started we are having a party in the Olympic Bar from 6:30pm till late with decent music, an alcoholic slushy machine and avocado on toast. This should be a great opportunity to bring along your non member friends who have been wanting to check out the venue and for you to get to know some of the other "younger" members.
Okay Boomers, we hear you too. If you're young at heart rather than on paper you can still come along and enjoy the fun!
