Guided history & club tours were run throughout the course of weekend for Open House Melbourne.

Racing Report - Week ending 28th July
|
Finally, after three weeks, we got some racing in this week.
|
Wednesday was the MidWeek Mariners Pursuit race with the competitors setting off on a Full Red course, in sunshine and 8-10 knots of breeze. The finish was very close in the spinnaker pursuit division.

Another Squadron fun party at Docklands on Saturday 10th August.

Those of us racing should manage to be alongside by 17:30, those of us cruising can have a leisurely ride up the river.

On Saturday night a week ago Greg Marino and Jenny attended the Royals Presentation night.

There were 12 trophies under the category of "Kindred Club Trophy Winners". HBYC won 8 trophy and RMYS won 4.

Marina Gate Damage

A number of Marina Gates have significant damage, with all the caused from inside the Marina Arms. The damage has most likely been caused by bicycles or wheelbarrows (or Members pushing the gates open with their feet?). Please be conscious of your actions when using the gates. Members are reminded that bicycles are not to be ridden on Marina Arms …

A number of boats are significantly overhanging Marina Arms, leading to a significant risk of injury to Members.

Boat owners are reminded that they must secure their vessel so that no part of their vessel overhangs the Marina Arms .

Coastal Navigation Course
|
The Coastal Navigation course is essential for any crew person participating in coastal or offshore yachting. It is considered mandatory for anyone who wishes to become a skipper and extend their boating adventures beyond protected waters. This course runs for 6 consecutive weeks.

Start Powerboating
|
September Holiday Course
25th-27th
|
This is the ideal course for first time powerboaters or young people 12-18 years old, who want to build their confidence before getting out on the water. The emphasis is on developing "safe power boating" skills with qualified instructors in a safe and supportive environment.

Powerboat Handling Course
|
Learn how to handle a power boat or improve on your skills of boat handling. This includes obtaining a Victorian Boat licence without further testing. You will also learn more about engines, types of craft, chart and on water navigation.
|
|
|
|
|
Safety Boat Operator Course
|
This course will develop your powerboat skills so that you can support all water-based activities at sailing clubs, national sailing events, schools and recreation centres. If you want to become a qualified sailing instructor, Australian Sailing Coach (now mandatory) or official, this course is ideal.

Radio Course Dates for 2019
|
We offer the internationally approved VHF (Short Range) or VHF + HF (Long Range) courses with a focus on the practical exercises using our ICOM marine radio equipment. Go to our web site for booking form and more information.
