The drink prices in the Olympic Bar have not changed for two years, despite an annual increase being allowed for in the contract with f&d. A market review has been undertaken by f&d (and checked by RMYS).

Friday 13th September, 6.30pm
Happy Happy Fridays continue in the Olympic Bar, 13th September with JimmyRum Distillery, who operate a craft rum distillery on the Mornington Peninsula. They also import small batch Barbados rum. They were one of the sponsors for AWKR and would like to introduce RMYS to their premium product with a free tasting and talk about the distilling process and the finer aspects of small batch and craft rums.

Season Opening Day and Sail Past

The Summer season will open on Saturday 5th October.
|
Boon Wurrung, the traditional people and custodians of this coastline, to conduct a smoking ceremony at the Squadron through one of their Elders at 1145hrs.
|
After the smoking ceremony those who have booked lunch will proceed to the harbour room for a 2 course lunch, followed by the presentation to the 2019 Club Member of the Year. Then unfurling of the burgee will commence to officially declare the season open and for members to welcome year 144!
Afterwards the traditional sail past will commence on water followed by live music and drinks in the Olympic Bar throughout the evening.

Coastal Navigation Course
|
Format: 6 x 3 hour lecture sessions on Tuesday evenings 1900 to 2200 hours
Dates: October 8. 15. 22. 29. November 12. 19. 2019

The Coastal Navigation course is essential for any crew person participating in coastal or offshore yachting. It is considered mandatory for anyone who wishes to become a skipper and extend their boating adventures beyond protected waters. This course runs for 6 consecutive weeks.

Start Powerboating

Dates: Wednesday 25th Sept- Friday 27th Sept 2019 (9am-1pm)
Course includes: Powerboat textbook, logbook and nationally recognised course certificate
Minimum age: 12 years

This 12 hour boating course aimed at the first time young adult power boating student and provides both theory and onwater practical skills to safely operate a powerboat in enclosed waters.This is the ideal course for first time powerboaters or young people 12-18 years old, who want to build their confidence before getting out on the water. The emphasis is on developing "safe power boating" skills with qualified instructors in a safe and supportive environment.

Powerboat Handling Course

The YA Powerboat Handlers Course is also recognised nationally by educational institutions & community organisations as the industry standard for boating courses.
Dates: Saturday 12th October 9am-6pm (theory navigation & shore based exercises)
Sunday 13th October 9am-6pm (practical on-water session)
Learn how to handle a power boat or improve on your skills of boat handling. This includes obtaining a Victorian Boat licence without further testing. You will also learn more about engines, types of craft, chart and on water navigation.
