TIME: 5.45pm for a chat with GC members. 6.15 pm start talking fix it.
This Friday, we will have an open forum for members to talk about how to fix those pesky problems on your boat. Come one, come all (preferably the latter) and share your tips, techniques, trials, tribulations and errors. On the water or in the pen, what to do when this thing breaks, that thing leaks, the other thing won’t start, the sails are flogging, the halyards loose, and all manner of issues arising at the worst possible time. Including when your main sheet traveller fouls up as in the photos below. What widget, gadget, spanner, or hammer should you use, and what are the essentials of an onboard tool box. Who knows the answers to these troubling questions, and more.

MSC – At Your Service
We have been very lucky to have had some great Friday Zoom nights to get us together and help ease the lockdown.
The Olympic Story with Margot Foster and Virtual Sailing with Greg Patten were recorded and will be available on the RMYS website, along with other recorded Pot, Parma and Chat nights just as soon as the Club re-opens. Thanks must also go to Mark and Lea for their great Kahoots contribution.
In the meantime, Greg Patten has kindly provided us with some notes covering his knowledge and expertise of sailing on the small screen, reproduced below in this eBreeze. This is a recommended fun and entertaining diversion. If you haven’t played before you will need to register with Virtual Racing before completing your online entry. Go to https://www.rmys.com.au/wed-race/.

See also Boating Office News below.

And if you have any ideas or suggestions about other topics we could cover on a Friday night, or if you would like to run a Zoom meeting on the topic of your choice, please let us know.

Virtual Regatta Inshore
By Greg Patten RMYS
- https://www.virtualregatta.com/en/inshore-game/
- Apps available for iOS and Android
- Use the “helps”! Especially “Best VMG” (B key). Buy them from within the iOS or Android apps to save money; they’re more expensive if you pay in Euros. A pile of them will cost you less than a jug at the club. NB. You buy red tokens and convert them to greens which you then use to buy “helps” at the start of each race.
- Think about being the tactician rather than the helmsperson. Imagine you have the perfect helm and crew and all you have to do is put the boat in the right place! Easier said than done of course …

The Great S80 Swap
After 6 years of ownership by Rebecca Irwin and Steve Thompson we say goodbye to “Espresso” S947. She has been a great boat and been frequently raced in club, interclub and S80 One Design races as well as a regular at Festival of Sails.
Her new home will be at Blairgowrie where she will be regularly raced by Garrath James her new owner.
However, this does not mean that we are done with the wonderful S80 One Design fleet. We are now the proud owners of S80 “Double Shot”, S571 aptly named by Rebecca following in the theme of caffeine, our second boat together and...
