Welcome Lachlan’s Boat -Friendly Light

Please welcome new boat Friendly Light, which arrived into his pen G11 in March 2020

Friendly Light – Falmouth Pilot cutter
designed by Lyle Hess

Built Buderim QLD 1983 by Laurie Jenkins. Qld White Beech planking on Spotted Gum frames.

Sister ship to the Lyn and Larry Pardey’s “Taleisin” which has made several world circumnavigations.

She’s not a flyer to windward, but quite fast once the sheets are eased.

Can be sailed easily single-handed. Her displacement of over 7 tonnes gives her a kindly motion in blue water.

Brion Toss in “Riggers Apprentice” describes the rig as almost perfect.

Bass Strait and Tasmania are her favourite cruising grounds. Has been to the Hobart wooden boat festival 10 times and twice to the Geelong wooden boat festival
