It’s been a busy start to the year with January and February courses being full.

The weekend just gone saw 3 Keelboat courses starting both Saturday and Sunday and an Adult dinghy course on Sunday so the place was busy with new potential RMYS members. We have also completed our first set of school holiday programs both Tacker and the Out There Sailing.  Both were a great success and have led to enquiries for the Junior squad. The Out There Sailing Program is new to RMYS and is targeting the 11-17-year-olds and introducing them to sailing and water sports.  As the weather was a bit fickle and the wind was not always around, it gave us the great opportunity (unlike other courses) to get the kids out on the powerboats as well.  This was one of the highlights of their time.  We plan to run more of these courses soon, please keep an eye on the website.

On Saturday and Sunday, we welcomed a new Instructor (Johnathan) who ran our first powerboat course and had all three clients successfully complete the course.

February and March courses are filling up fast in all areas off the beach Keelboat and Powerboat and core states can be found on the website for those that would like to book in.  Remember courses are open to members and non-members alike, but you need to be quick.

February is going to see welcoming back Albert Park College.  We have a training program running through February and March.

Enquiries are coming in constantly from the schools which is great to see with many converting to full membership.

Don’t forget if you know anyone that wants to learn to sail, direct them to our RMYS website.  Full information can be found under the training section.

We are gaining a good number of instructors but with courses filling and looking at placing new courses on the calendar, we still need to build our pool of instructors.  So again , if you’re interested in this or know someone who is, please contact Colin.
