Scott Trevethan joined RMYS in October and he is the boat owner of Tenacity, a Catamaran currently in Pen C01.

Tenacity is a Crowther designed pocket cruiser. Built and launched in 1982, she started her life sailing around PNG where her owners lived before moving to South Australia and then onto the Whitsundays where she was set up as one of the earlier charter boats. She was purchased around 15 years ago by the previous owners to me who motor sailed her first from Queensland and then often visited Wilsons Prom and Deal Island. A very much loved part of that family, she was reluctantly sold as the owners were getting older and have plans to buy a motor vessel up in Queensland.

My plans… She was designed by Lock Crowther as a way in which to entice hardened keel boat sailors into multi hulls. So my plan is to restore her sailing pedigree and remove the reliance on engines to get around. To that end I have already put new rigging on her, had her mast reconditioned, put on a brand new front beam with new seagull striker and anchor roller, new furler for the headsail, new boom, new mast step, new side chainplates and all new running rigging.

Next step is to get all new sails or at least a main. I plan on replacing the hard cabin top with a dodger / bimini. The electrics need looking at and slowly upgrading as well.  All this while I explore Port Phillip Bay, and Victoria in general.  Once all is done I plan on heading up to the Whitsundays, and then after cyclone season, doing a circumnavigation or exploring PNG and / or Indonesia.  All of that seems a long way off though so first things first!
