Race Office Report – Week ended 22nd March 2020

News from the office

Well as we all know not a lot to report from the sailing side. With COVID-19 really taking hold we made the call (along with the other clubs on the bay) to stop racing. This meant that the that the final twilight race, measurement cup and PPWCS races did not go ahead.
Racing is now formally suspended until 30th September and we will continue to monitor and change this policy as appropriate.

We want to continue engagement with our members and to this end I will be looking at ways we can do this. Step one is that there will continue to be a race office ebreeze article. So please have a read.

I also invite members to send in yachting questions that they may have and always wanted to know the answer to. I will put these in this report and welcome replies/answers via email. Please keep the questions to sailing/Racing.

I will also be using this time to ensure we are ready to hit the water running when we get the all clear and this this end will be finalising  the 2020/2021 calendar which starts October. There are also a few new advancements to TopYacht that I will run over as they come in.

It is also a great time to check your boat details in top Yacht and get your crew to provide correct and  up to date details.

2019/2020 Results: With many races not being run it has been agreed with Sailing Committee that the results for the aggregate trophy’s will be awarded to the current lead boat in each division due to the “special circumstances”. The annual presentation night will need to be postponed and a new date will be set once we know when we can all meet in a group again.

Please remember that we are a strong club and can come back even stronger with a new and exciting season to look forward to, so we ask you to stick with us.

Lets keep in touch and stay safe
