We all saw that General & Facilities Committee took the opportunity over the lock downs to undertake long needed capital works of painting the Olympic Lounge / Members area and opening up access to the Bert Ferris Library along with other parts of the building.

Commodore Greg then initiated the Historic Group – sub-committee of Members Services to commence the task of identifying, conserving and presenting the collection of images, documents and memorabilia.

At their request, investigation by Facilities recommended a gallery class hanging system which was installed on Thursday (22 April). A small selection of images were able to be hung, just in time for the Tumlaren Championships on Saturday 24 April.

The Squadron holds a huge collection of items, but unfortunately over the years these have largely been taken for granted. It will require significant investment in time and funds to do them justice.

As the project continues it is strengthening connections with similar groups and other locations of interest such as Williamstown Maritime Museum, HMAS Castlemaine & Polly Woodside increasing attraction for visitors and prospective members.

Many thanks to Historical Group – Lee McRae; Bernadette Hosking; Amanda Wakeham; Russell Nathan; Mike Sutton; David Allen; Peter Chapman and Facilities Committee.
