Discover Sailing Day Report -2019

Discover Sailing Day was again a great success here at RMYS. Despite  the weather trying to upset things first off it turned out the be an almost perfect day. On the marina we have a great breeze that eased off as the day went on and the sun even made a short but welcome appearance as the main groups of guest came down. The Marina Co-ordination team of Jason McCutcheon, Bruce Rogers and Charles Meredith did a fantastic job allocating the groups but I want to say a big thank you to the boats and their crews (Cloud Ten,Marie Grace ,Portofino, Rollercoaster, Anastasia, Blue Horizons, Siren, Take Five, Matrix, Dalliance,Arcadia,Rock n Roll, Grand Cru 2, Abatao and the RMSTA Boats) that with out them the day would never have happened.

On shore the day started with the first guest coming in at 9.45, keen, and from 10am there was a steady flow with 305 being the total number for the day. Again a big thank you to all the Volunteers (Walkers, BBQ, Club House and the yard and the registration team). The beach activities under RMSTA were very popular so thank you to  Leigh and his team  for running a smooth event and lets not forget the Zadia from Coco Joe icecreams and Sonia the face painter that helped create a carnival atmosphere.

So to sum it it was a fantastic day all round that can never happen with out your support so a big thank you for your support and representing the club in such a fantastic manner .  With plenty of real interest from the public looking to go sailing and join the RMYS we know that this was a successful day and we look forward to a bigger and better event in 2020.
