Dinghy Courses: Adult & Youth

New dinghy courses for Spring 2020 now advertised. Covid – 19 sail training update

The Victorian Government announcement on 7 th July, 2020 of renewed Stage 3 COVID -19 Health Restrictions for the Greater Melbourne Area have resulted in our winter sail training in keelboats and other courses being postponed until these restrictions are eased.

Our dinghy courses for Spring 2020 are planned to commence from 6 th Sunday September and may not be unaffected.

These latest Stage 3 health restrictions are advertised for a six – week period and potentially may ease from August 19 th 2020, subject to notification from the Victorian Government. Our sailing and boating courses will continue to be planned and advertised for the period beyond 1 st September 2020 on the basis of approval by the Victorian Government  in recreational activities & gatherings and further approval by Australian Sailing (the peak body of sailing in Australia) advising us that we can resume training.

See our new dates for dinghy courses September through to November 2020

Please feel free to register your interest in our dinghy sailing and other courses or send in a booking form. For your peace of mind payment will not be requested for any course until a week prior to the commencement date.

If you see a course you are interested in, or need some advice about learning to sail, please contact us via email at training@rmys.com.au or Leigh Brennan-Smith on 0412 196301. We look forward to your continued interest and support heading towards Spring, 2020.

New Dinghy courses for Spring 2020 now advertised
We offer a full range of dinghy sailing courses. Our location at St.Kilda is ideal for dinghy sailing with beach launching, a sheltered harbour on Port Phillip and consistent sea breezes. Whether you have never sailed before, or if you have lots of experience but are just looking to hone specific skills, there is a course for you. These group lessons are suitable for young people 12 years and up, and adults of all ages. For youth and adult dinghy training we use X3 Extreme, Pacer & Heron dinghies. In February 2018 we added a further two RS Quest dinghies to our Academy fleet which we use for schools and adult classes. These modern dinghies from the UK can carry up to four people and are fitted with both asymmetric and symmetric spinnakers.
