After missing out last year due to the dreaded Covid, we held the 16th annual RMYS golf day once again at Albert Park golf course.

We had 20 players this year which included friends and family, however, it would be nice to have seen more members so hopefully we can get some of those members with golf clubs collecting dust to come out and have a hit next year.  We also missed some of our regulars who couldn’t attend so hopefully we’ll see John, Heath and Mick McGill and Pete Woollard next year.

Janine Walker won the ladies nearest the pin and Ryan Marriner won the mens.

Brenda Driscoll won the ladies longest drive and Paul D’Arcy won the mens.

The scores were incredible and for the first time ever, we had three teams coming in with 76.  When this happens we have a count back but two teams came in with the same on both the front and the back nine.  A final count back was then done on the scores going back from the 18th hole which incredibly had both top teams birdying the 18th but the winners parred the 17th.

Team Winners – Chris Havre, Sabina Rosser, Harry Leggett and Amanda Dymond

Runners up – Damien Ryan, Ryan Marriner, Janine Walker and Bernie Ferrari

Equal runners up – Doug Charters, Luke Johnson, Sue Woollard and Jenny O’Donohue

So close by one point – Mick Culhane, Peter Crossley, Paul D’Arcy and Diana Chatfield

Note far behind – Rick Matthews, Paul Swan, Celia Dymond and Brenda Driscoll

John Rae donated a golf bag he’d won elsewhere which we auctioned off – The bidding started at $50, Rick Matthews, Jenny O’Donohue and Ryan Marriner fought hard.  Ryan took out the final bid and $200 will be donated to junior sailing.  Thanks also to Troubleshooters, RMYS and Sabina for prize donations.

Thanks to Alex Sim for coming to do the bbq for us all after the day.
