The congested sailing calendar strikes again! While Sunday April 15, 2018 will be a busy day for RMYS it also provides us with a fantastic opportunity to share sailing at RMYS with Rotary visitors and support our Association Cup team with spectators on the water during the racing.
Association Cup Team
Every year the Sailing Committee struggles with the choice of which boats will best represent RMYS in the Association Cup. The Association Cup is an event where all bay clubs seek to present their best performing AMS and IRC boats and crew. The competition is between three boats per club in each division.
For RMYS this year our entrants this year are:
Addiction – Richard McGarvie
Arcadia – PJ Davison
Portofino – Stuart Tait/Greg Marino
How Bizarre – Scott Robinson
Salamander III – Monica Jones
Antagonist – James Lynch
Final divisional split depends on current certificate ratings and recent performance.
RMYS supports regular crew forming the core of competing boats but recognizes on the day absent crew may be covered by other club members.
RMYS again has been invited to support Rotary to raise funds for charity. Our role is to provide yachts for the expected 100 visitors, each visitor contributes a donation to the Rotary charity fund.
This year, if conditions suit, we may also be able to “run” the visitors past the Association Cup course to raise the RMYS flag for our entrants.
