A big thankyou to all such Members who assisted in this way!
Fortunately (and thanks to Member assistance) we have suffered no significant damage or incidents, but can all boat owners pay attention to the following matters to ensure your boat stays safe in the event of further such storms:
Furling Headsails – never rely solely on a clutch to secure your furling line. Always secure the tail around a cleat or winch (4 were found to be slipping on the weekend, which if they became fully unfurled would cause significant damage to the boat and marina).
Mainsail bags – ensure they are securely closed/zipped.
Mooring lines – all boats should have as a minimum 2 x spring lines and 3 x breast lines. A couple of boats had only one spring line, and not the one needed for the wind direction we had. If you need new or replacement lines, please see Damien.
Fenders – should be low enough so the bottom of the fender just touches the water. This will help prevent them from being squeezed out.
