Most of you will be aware of the monthly Squadron Sunday Pursuit Races, which are held primarily for enjoyment & participation of members, their family and friends in a not so competitive environment.
Now that Spring is here and the weather is improving, what better time to get out on the bay.
These races provide the opportunity for yacht owners /skippers, who may not wish to or are unable to race on Saturday or Wednesdays, to gain confidence in a ‘less competitive environment’ (if there is such a thing when two or more yachts are close-by on the water)....
The Sailing Committee would love to see more yachts competing in the Squadron Sunday Races, and to support this can assist in matching boats that may need some help with experienced crew from RMYS members that can mentor, or ‘show the ropes’ to anyone in need over a few races.
We already know of a few yachts that do wish to join these races, but don’t have enough experienced crew, while we are also sure there are members who would be more than happy to assist other members in this way. Even one or two experienced crew on these yachts will make a big difference and pass-on knowledge to the other crew.
Remember – this is a fun day (Sunday morning) on the water followed by Squadron Sunday Lunch & live music in the club.
At this stage any boat owner /skipper who is looking for crew for Squadron Sundays may contact either Allicia or myself in the week prior to the race and we will work on matching crew. Likewise, any member (sailing or social) who would like to join a boat for these Sunday races, then also let Allicia or I know.
Note – there is NO Day Pass Fee for Squadron Sunday Races, however a Day Pass still needs to be completed for any non-member or Social Member to ensure insurance cover.
Looking forward to seeing more yachts in the Squadron Sunday Races.
