Sailors with disABILITIES (SWD) is a non-profit organisation established in 1994. SWD is committed to changing society's perception of people with disabilities and creating optimism among disadvantaged Australians. Their commitment is aimed at changing society's perception of people with disabilities and making sure they are not treated differently because of their disabilities.
During their visit to Melbourne, SWD will provide an opportunity for children with disability to sail on our ocean racing yacht Kayle through their Winds of Joy program.
At Sandringham on weekdays between 2 and 20 March there will be two sessions per day, the first 09.30 – 12.00 and the second 12.30 – 14.30. Each session accommodates up to 15 participants (including carers) and up to 3 wheelchairs. On Sundays at Sandringham we plan to offer our Winds of Care program from 12noon - 4pm.
