Dignitaries such as the Acting Mayor of the City of Port Phillip, Serge Thomann, Bishop Paul White and Father Turi Hollis, Earthcare Past President Zoe Hogg, Albert Park College Principal Steve Cook, Junior Club Captain Max Murraylee, Commodore Janet Dean, local fishing legend Dugga Beazley and Wooden Boatshop Director Tim Phillips, ensured there was both officialdom, interest and humour to be had during the presentations. We could have listened to Dugga and Tim's boating stories for hours.
Richard McGarvie and newly crowned Club Member of the Year Peter Davison, skippering Addiction, led the sail past with three cheers to the Commodore. More than 20 boats participated, included the beautiful Storm Bay skippered by Tim Phillips, who kindly took out RMYS members and the Junior Sailing Cadets and Optis.
The official party had the hardest job of the day, determining who would win the best-dressed prize, and this was well deservedly given to Weekend Option (Michael Culhane and crew) and their theme “Carnivale".
The day ended at the Squadron dancing and listening to the Titanics and spreading across the club on the roof, balcony and lounge.
Thanks to Julian and food&desire for the catering on the day!
