Albury-Wodonga Yacht Club spokeswoman Mary-Anne Scully said despite the rain clearing on Saturday, it was tough sailing for the competitors in shifting winds.
“It was an outstanding turnout and despite the tough conditions we didn’t really have any issues,” she said.
“We have racing for the juniors to the elite with Olympian Oli Tweddell competing on both days.
“There are boats here from Melbourne and Sydney and we even had people registering right up until the last day.
“At the start of all of this we were hoping for 60 boats but we have more than doubled that and now the Victorian Institute of Sport and state squad are going to stay and train for a couple of extra days as well.”
Competitors looked like they had just as much fun off the water as they did on, with most families camping at the club over the weekend and activities such as zorbing on offer.
Sail Country was also the second round of Yachting Victoria's OTB Marine Victorian Sailing Cup..
Congratulations to all competitors and to Albury Wodonga Yacht Club for hosting such a fantastic event. In particular Linus Talacko 10th and Matt Walker 16th in an Opti fleet with 29 of the best Juniors in Vic and NSW and Jan Talacko 3rd in the Lasers.
