Thanks again to the work of Peter Coulter, RMYS can proudly announce a new reciprocal relationship with Gstaad Yacht Club. Gstaad is a beautiful and luxurious chalet village in Switzerland, located in the Bernese Oberland. GYC was founded in 1998, and has a delightful clubhouse in the mountains providing for skiing activities in the winter. Sailing in the summer takes place in various locations within and outside Switzerland, including Lake Thun.
GYC's main event each year is the Interclub Ski Yachting regatta, which involves giant slalom skiing races on the first day, and match racing of remote control yachts on GYC's indoor pool on the second. 20 teams from all over the world competed at this year's event, and the regatta has been won by a number of prestigious worldwide clubs, including the Royal Yacht Squadron (from the Isle of Wight). RMYS members are warmly invited to represent our club at next year's event, to be held from 4-6 March 2016. If you are interested, please contact the RMYS office.
