Today's photo features a very relaxed Alistair Hart, RO of Division 0 & 1 aboard William Paterson for the Club Marine Series on Saturday 9 April. Luckily the wind picked up eventually!
Wednesday 6 April
Race 2 of the UNi-PRO Midweek Mariners Pursuit Race got under way in just 5 knots of breeze at 1400 on Wednesday, but just to keep it interesting, by 1437 it was gusting to 29 knots. Sea Eagle got away and won the race, followed by Portofino and Oleana.
Charlotte won the Half Tonne Challenge and Obsession won the Best Start prize; but then also won the Mountain Goat for getting a great start, but getting lost on course with no Sailing Instructions and ultimately retiring.
Thanks to John Taylor, Dave Croke, Jan Lucas, and Selwyn Stokes, who ran the racing on Wednesday.
Saturday 9 April
The final day of the Club Marine Series (Day 7) was hosted by HBYC and was a quiet one breeze-wise, but with a lot on the line. Yachting Victoria has provided a full wrap up of the racing here.
In particular, well done to Tigris for their second place in Division 2 (PHS).
The series results are available here. Congratulations to Mood Indigo (PHS) and Johnny Be Goode (AMS) on their wins in Division 3; and also to Primitive Cool on finishing third in Division 0.
Thanks very much to our RO-heavy crew – Alistair Hart, Dave Croke, Ross Flood, Andrew Gluth and Sue Greaves – for running the Division 0 & 1 course.
Sunday 10 April
The Association Cup was run again this weekend, with all five major keelboat clubs (RMYS, RBYC, SYC, RYCV and HBYC) fully represented in both the AMS and IRC divisions. Well done to SYC for taking away the trophy after several years of domination by RYCV.
Congratulations to the crews of Gienah, Johnny Be Goode, Mood Indigo, Primitive Cool, Salamander III, and Take Five for representing RMYS so well.
Full results are available here.
Congratulations to Linus Talacko for being selected in the Victorian Sailing Team for the second year in a row. Linus sailed his Optimist to a very impressive 27th place in a huge fleet of 177 at the New Zealand Nationals recently.
