The Summer Series has started, despite the weather continuing to show no signs of the approaching season!
The first Wednesday evening race of the season got under way in 15-30knot winds. Congratulations to all the boats that sailed in the Super Wednesday Sprint. Sunshine (Jimmy O) placed first, followed by Xit Strategy (Pete Smith) in second place, and Laafin (Andrew English) third.
Best start, on two seconds, went to Sunshine.
Race 8 of the Midweek Mariners Series III completed in a choppy sea with a 12 – 26 knot north to north-westerly.
Congratulations to Laafin for placing first in the Morse Air Systems Midweek Mariners Series II Pursuit race. Well done also to Astarte in second and Revenge third.
In the Doctors of Northcote Spinnaker Series III, Don McDonell won on PHS with Red Dog, followed by Jim Lynch with Antagonist and Leslie Norton with Mrs Overnewton.
On AMS, Vagrant placed first with Antagonist second, for the second week in a row. Red Dog came in third.
On IRC (once again only three starters) Matador placed first.
A big thank you to our race management team across both races: Dave Croke, Michael Morse (both races), Tom Ely , Ian Guyett, Selwyn Stokes and John Taylor.
Fantastic weather made for a sunny start to the Club Marine Summer Series Race 1. RMYS congratulates all boats who raced in the event. In particular, well done to Mrs Overnewton, which finished first in Division 3 on YV. Well done also to Take Five for placing third on AMS in Division 3 and to Mood Indigo for placing second on IRC in Division3. Please find all the results for Saturdays Club Marine Race here.
Thank you to Rob Quick for taking a number of Day Pass visitors out on Mistress.
Once again these races would not be possible without our volunteers. Thank you to Stephen Aulich from SYC, Race Officer for the Division 1 fleet, assisted by Alistair Hart, Ross Flood, and Terry Hart on William Paterson. On Albatross we had Tony Lukeman, Peter Yoon and Jose Oliveros.
