It was great to be able to watch and participate in actual man overboard retrieval techniques aboard Christine. It's not as easy as it looks on paper!
We had a wetsuited Marc, from Mrs Overnewton, as our volunteer swimmer. A brave man in 14 degree water! We trialed the lifebuoy, life sling, winching up on a halyard (yes, we have one that reaches below the waterline), and the parbuckle, as well as returning to the boat via rear ladder and step.
From our perspective, on Christine, we will deploy the ladder and bring people back on the boat via the stern. But if the weather is rough we will use the halyard retrieval amidships. But it's horses for courses, this is what works well on our boat. How about yours?
