Two sessions will be held this year and attendance for all sailing members is highly recommended.
Session 1: Wednesday 1 October - 1800 hours AV in the Harbour Room - 45 minute session.
Session 2: Saturday 18 October - 1030 hours AV in the Harbour Room, followed by a 45 minute on-water demonstration in the marina, finishing at 1230.
Anyone that has had to recover someone from the water will tell you that it is much harder than it looks. At RMYS, we have 'Manny' the mannequin, which can be borrowed at any time of the year so that you and your crew can practise. Manny only weighs 35kgs dry, but is over 70kgs wet and is a true dead weight. We encourage you to take him out and, with your crew, perfect a technique that works for you.
The RMYS White Book (Sailing Instructions) and ISAF Blue Book (Racing Rules of Sailing) provide guides as to how best to recover someone from the water. Please contact Allicia, or any of the Sailing Committee for more information.
See you on the water (hopefully not in it!) and at the MOB briefing.
