Jim Holroyd, Geoff Fagan and Roger Hatten are about to head out onto the West coast again to head further south to Bathurst harbour in the pristine South West wilderness area. Then head Eastward back to Hobart arriving 21st March.
Highlights so far have been secluded anchorages on the NE tip of Tassie (Cape Portland), sailing under the stars of the Milky Way, isolated and windswept beaches on Three Hummock island just south of King island, rugged cliffs with wind farms perched on the top at Cape Grim, and the remote and peaceful Gordon River partially saved from damming in the early 80's.
We have been blessed with fine and calm seas, and look forward to seeing families after 7 weeks on the sea. This rally is run each 2 years by the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania to coincide with the wooden boat show in Hobart, and we can recommend it to anyone with an adventurous spirit.
