Gavin has raced sailboats since the age of 10, with 20 podium finishes at National championships to his credit, and 4 top-ten finishes in the 8 World and International regattas he has completed. He has coached for more than 20 years across the spectrum of racing sailors from junior club sailing through to World Championships. He has won Yachting Victoria awards for Contribution to Yachting and Coaching Program of the Year. He is a published sailing writer on the technical aspects of yacht racing with
more than 10 years of regular contributions to US-based magazine Sailing World. Gavin has also completed more than 10,000 ocean miles, including Melbourne to Hobart, Melbourne to Port Fairy, and Melbourne to Stanley races as helmsman. Gavin is a registered psychologist and works as an executive coach. He completed his PhD studying athlete career development and sport psychology. Last year Gavin also coached our squad to Victory in the 88th Stonehaven Cup.
