Over the last 2 years, the squadron has spent over $6000 purchasing and upgrading trolleys for the free use of Members and guests.
You might be aware that several have recently gone missing (almost certainly somewhere under the Marina), including two of the new aluminium 3-wheelers. Fortunately Trevor Burridge located one of these on a recent dive, but we are still missing others.
There have been numerous ebreeze articles about the need to ALWAYS secure the trolleys to the marina, but despite this they are still being left unattended, and dissappearing. The photo below is one of the plastic tub trolleys that was left unsecured on a finger and subsequently blew into the water. The user was unaware that it had disappeared, but fortunately another Member noticed it and it was retrieved with the work boat.
We don’t want to go down the path of locking all trolleys, and requiring a name and deposit for their use, but we can’t go on losing them at the current rate either.
- Always secure any trolleys to a cleat when loading/unloading
- Always return trolleys to the yard after use or sailing. DO NOT just leave them at your berth or at the Arm Gates.
