For the third straight year I will be putting on the beanie, folding out the cardboard and sleeping rough at the MCG. Why, because we are living the dream, however many others out there are not, especially some young kids that are living on the street.
I nearly did not attend this years event using all the excuses: it's cold, it’s wet, too busy, I have done it before. But hey, that's just a day's sailing in Melbourne. Fortunately for all the homeless youth on the streets and of course a little thing called social media, I have had many people ask me if I was going to Sleep at the G.
So here I am, putting my body on the line ... well, on a piece of cardboard and sleeping rough from 5pm to 5am this Thursday evening, 21 May. Right now your support, no mater how big or small, will make it all worthwhile. Last year's target was $1000 and we smashed that by a $145 and I hardly knew anyone at RMYS. So this year I'm aiming for $1500.
If you are keen on making any even bigger sacrifice and give up a night's sleep in your home, with a warm bed and a hot shower, then feel free to join me at www.SleepAtTheG.com.au Once again thank you to all those who supported me last year and all those supporting me this year.
