S80's continue to be a sought after boat for the regatta and we are currently writing to the various organisations and boat owners calling for further support. Please write to us if you can assist here in any way.
The Townsville Magnetic Maidens have already registered to attend the 2017 event, bringing no less than four teams with them this time! Magnificent effort for these dedicated sailors.
Nicole Heales, our interstate and overseas participants committee co-ordinator is currently in communication with many clubs around Asia Pacific to generate interest to provide a higher level of competition for our event. Nicole is also a leading volunteer in the Sailors with Disabilities Program.
We are delighted to announce that Royal Geelong Yacht Club have also committed to bringing no less than four boats to the Regatta led by Club and AWKR Champion Christie Albert. We are also in communications with the other 5 major yacht clubs around the bay to bring a minimum of four teams per club. An inter-club trophy will be offered to each Yacht club. More on that later.
Allicia Rae, our local participants committee co-ordinator, is currently in communications with the Navy who seem to be well engaged in joining us with a boat and crew for the regatta.
As the Chair, I am currently working on our sponsors and am pleased to announce that we have raised $20,000 in sponsorship to date and have set a fairly ambitious target to largely assist interstate and overseas crews to secure boats.
Postcards will be printed and mailed out in the next week. We don't have many email addresses of previous participants. In the past only the email addresses of the skippers has been retained. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your email address to go into the database.
