Trophy Presentation Night was another fantastic evening, with more than 180 members and guests helping to celebrate another wonderful season of racing.
Club Captain and MC Tom Ely ran a tight ship, with the awards being presented promptly. Commodore Janet Dean looked after most of the trophy presenting duties, with City of Port Phillip Councillor Serge Thomann kindly assisting with the Junior prizes. Junior Club Captain Nelson Dean made an excellent speech and the Cadets were extremely well-represented.
Monica Jones from Salamander III was re-presented with her Overall Champion trophy from the Port Phillip Women's Championship Series. Congratulations, Monica, on a clean sweep of the three handicaps! RMYS also won the Teams Trophy for the highest participation in the PPWCS. Well done to all competing boats.
It was great to see representatives from our major sponsor Club Marine at the event, as well as flag officers from RBYC, RYCV, QCYC and HBYC. A special thanks to RBYC Commodore Alan Woodward for delivering a speech on behalf of our kindred clubs.
Our heartiest congratulations to the team from Take Five, who were very deserving winners of the Centenary Trophy this year. Jurgen Pfeiffer and his crew took home several other awards; only trumped on sheer numbers by Jack Setton and Albert Kaminsky's team on Ellipse.
Thanks to our raffle sponsors for their generosity: Ken and Heather Simpson; Jason McCutcheon and Swinburne University; and Anthea Solopotias and Ganache Boutique. Bart de Lange was the particularly proud winner of the lovely cocktail dress!
The crowd danced the night away with our band, No Baggage, who were fantastic musicians and very well received.
Our thanks also go to food&desire for providing the welcome drinks on the house.
