Cruise to HMAS Cerberus Westernport - March Long Weekend 10 -12th

Jan Fielding, Saturday, 7 January 2012

RMYS has been fortunate to be invited by the Navy to a fun sail-in-company to Hanns Inlet, Westernport where they will host us for the weekend.

This cruise is a great opportunity for everyone to take their boat to somewhere a bit different, to enjoy a short-course race if they wish, and to have the chance to practise a bit of pilotage with some outside support if wanted.

The Navy have inaugurated the “Cerberus Cup” which will be sailed on the Sunday (11th March), and it would be good to have an RMYS boat as the first winner!

The program at this stage is as follows:

Friday night or early Saturday sail to Queenscliff

Saturday

10:53        Through the Heads on the morning slack;
18:00        All boats alongside Cerberus
19:00        Dinner (hosted by Navy)

Sunday

13:00       Cerberus Cup in Westernport between Stony Point and Hastings – completed by 15:00
16:00       Barbeque and presentation at Cerberus

Slower boats may then wish to sail and stay overnight at Flinders, where Flinders SC have indicated they’d like to welcome us.

Monday

09:30       All boats to have departed Cerberus
12:17       Through the Heads on the midday slack
18:00       Alongside RMYS
