Welcome to Royal Melbourne Sail Training Academy located at the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron, 5 km from the Melbourne CBD. Royal Melbourne Sail Training Academy  offers a wide range of nationally recognised learn to sail and boating courses courses from "Discover Sailing" through to Crewing & Helming courses in both dinghies and keelboats.
 
Royal Melbourne Sail Training Academy is an accredited Yachting Australia "Discover Sailing Centre" with experienced  & friendly instructors delivering nationally recognised Yachting Australia learn to sail or powerboat programs. All instructors are qualified through Yachting Australia. 
 
Royal Melbourne Sail Training Academy covers all types and levels of boating, ranging from learning to sail a Dinghy or Yacht, through to Cruising, and Powerboating. Whether you are just a beginner or highly experienced, there is a level within each program to suit everyone.
 
  • Tackers: Learn to sail programs for kids 7 to 12 years
  • Green fleet.Junior sailing and learn to race programs for kids beyond Tackers
  • Dinghy: Small boat sailing for youth & adults in beach launched sailing dinghies
  • Keelboat: Learn to sail programs in larger day sailing yachts such as J24's
  • Powerboat:Powerboat handling courses including theory,licencing and on - water practical training
  • Marine radio: VHF and HF marine radio hands on training courses and licencing
  • Coastal Navigation: Shore based courses including traditional chart navigation and GPS

Location: Royal Melbourne Sail Training Academy located at the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron, 5 km from the Melbourne CBD. The Squadron has a sheltered harbour and marina at it's disposal offering unparalled and safe access to Port Phillip bay for sail training, yacht cruising and racing. Dinghies are launched via sheltered sandy beach and our training keelboats housed within the RMYS marina.The Squadron is easily accessed via public transport (tram), car or bike. The St.Kilda Pier with the iconic kiosk is visited by over 1 million people per year and overlooks the harbour and training area whilst providing access to the RMYS marina.
 
Facilities: Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron offers a friendly club based environment, situated on one of the most popular beaches in Victoria, with a sheltered harbour and marina. Our Clubhouse facilities offer one of the best views on the bay and provide a place for our club members & visitors to relax.The Squadron is always looking for new members and welcomes local and overseas visitors and conducts regular Discover Sailing days (Open Days) including free keelboat and off the beach sailing.
 
Experience: The Training Academy is an accredited "Discover Sailing Centre" and has started the sailing careers of thousands of Victorians.The Training Academy is managed on a full time basis by professional sailing and boating instructors (qualifed through Yachting Australia) and conducts onwater and shore based courses throughout the year.
