Keelboat training courses at RMYS continue over Winter, delivering hardy students for RMYS yachts

This is a quick update for RMYS boat owners and crew. If you’re waiting trained crew for your Spring and Summer campaigns, send to them to us for training now. We’re out there now alongside RMYS Winter races training learn to sail students over the Winter period.

R & R Report Week 22 - Kimberley Arrival

WOW! After months of anticipation, our long awaited arrival in The Kimberley is finally here. We kicked off
with a bang, visiting the spectacular Berkely and King George rivers over the last few days. These first few
steps into The Kimberely have left us all awe-struck and reminded us why we wanted to bring R&R here in the
first place.

Marine Radio course at RMYS starts Thursday 7th August @ 7 pm. Places available.

Melbourne’s cold weather can be useful for improving your off-water skills, like Marine Radio.

Royal Melbourne Sail Training Academy is offering MROVCP (VHF only) and MROCP (VHF + HF) marine radio qualification courses commencing Thursday August 7 th at RMYS at 7.00 pm. The course is conducted over 2 or 3 nights depending on which course level you want to achieve.

Club Coach Course - 21 August

Yachting Victoria will be running a Club Coach course starting on 21 August. There are generally only one or two of these courses run in a year, so this is a great opportunity for any interested members to upskill.

RMYS Team success @ Phuket Race Week

Six RMYS members came together to enjoy the warm weather and racing at the 11th Phuket Raceweek Regatta in July and achieved a 2nd place in the Bareboat charter class. 35 boats competed in the various classes with 400 crew and guests partaking in the racing and the ‘Extravagant Party Nights’

RMYS survives based on the contributions of our many club members.

Each year we identify a member who has made a significant contribution to RMYS to be awarded the JW Crosbie Trophy for Club Member of the Year.

Mini Jumpstarter

The Club has purchased a mini jump starter which is available for use by Members whenever they require a jump start. The unit is very small – easily transferrable to a boat on the water if the need arises, yet powerful enough to jump start any of the yachts (and most powerboats) in our marina.

Annual General Meeting 19 July 2014 - New Committee and Minutes

The RMYS Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday 19 July.

Four General Committee members retired - Commodore Linda Goldsmith, Rear Commodore Ian Law, Club Captain Matt Setton, and long-standing committee member Amanda Wakeham - with four new members elected unopposed:

Vice Commodore - Marcus Coppens
Club Captain - Thomas Ely
General Committee - James Lynch and Ian Lodewyckx

HMB Endeavour calling for adventurous crew!

Last week, the Australian National Maritime Museum announced the HMB Endeavour 2014/2015 Voyage Program and which we believe is one of our most exciting programs yet!

The museum has fostered some very special partnerships to bring you an exciting program based on various themes including botany, astronomy, whales and convict history.
